If there’s a sense of who you were before

It leaves you now, with a bloody roar

Thrown into chaos, through a charmless night

Reborn to fight in your private war

And they offer no resistance

Life ebbs away

There’s no peaceful coexistence

To life’s power play

They retreat to a safe distance

Fear and decay

While they’re calling for assistance

Help’s on its way

If there’s a sense of who you were before

It calls you now from the lightest spore

Summon water to your feral core

The lightning’s charge and the thunder roar

And they offer no resistance

Life ebbs away

There’s no peaceful coexistence

To life’s power play

They retreat to a safe distance

Fear and decay

While they’re calling for assistance

Help’s on its way

You turn back down the hill

And watch it all unfold

The blades of death approach

Launch a sea of amber gold

As your brothers, sisters crawl

Prostrate from the blast

Hauling to their feet

Arms spread, iconoclast

And right there at the end

A bitter sense of peace

The clarity returns

At epiphany’s release

There’s nothing more to do

You stumble through the creek

The last of the undead

With a tear upon her cheek

With a tear upon her cheek

With a tear upon her cheek

With a tear upon her cheek
