Time and Tide

Time and tide wait for me

Rub your eyes, make coffee

Say your prayers, count your sheep

‘cause time and tide wait for me

I said it once to make you laugh

And it worked until I turned my back

I screamed so loud to draw you out

But I couldn’t grab your hand

And now

The only chance I have is to fight

I’m pushing back with all my might

And the dreams I had are wasted on me

Wasted, I can see

Water rising to your lips

You’re slipping from my fingertips

But it’s OK

We’ll find another day

‘cause time and tide are here to stay

Take a ride in your sea

Overboard, sensory

Feel the world pulling free

‘cause time and tide wait for me

I said it once to make you laugh

And it worked until I turned my back

I screamed so loud to get you out

But I couldn’t grab your hand

And now

The only chance I have is to fight

I’m pushing back with all my might

And the dreams I had are wasted on me

Wasted, I can see

Water rising to your lips

You’re slipping from my fingertips

But it’s OK

We’ll find another day

‘cause time and tide are here to stay
